Every successful donation — one-time or monthly — generates a sequential receipt that meets IRS substantiation requirements. You can download receipts from your donor dashboard, and they are also emailed automatically. We do not provide personal tax advice; consult a qualified tax professional for your situation.

How much of my gift reaches the student?

100% of your designated gift amount reaches the student’s verified school fee account. We add a transparent admin fee at checkout that covers student verification, disbursement, and operating costs. The payment processor also charges a small fee, which we itemize before you confirm. Your receipt shows the full breakdown.

How do donations actually reach students?

Accepted Answer

We never hand cash to students. Once a student’s funding goal is met and they are fully verified, our team pays the school’s bursar or fee account directly. The school confirms the funds are applied to the named student’s account, and we upload proof of payment that you can view from your donor dashboard.

Question 4

Can I choose which student receives my donation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Browse the student directory, read each student’s story, and donate toward their remaining tuition. If you prefer not to designate a student, you can give to the general fund and we will allocate your gift to the next verified student in line or to urgent school-fee needs.

Question 5

What happens if a student is only partially funded?

A student’s request stays open until the full amount is raised. Other donors, employer matches, or the general fund can cover the remainder. If the goal is ultimately not met and the student withdraws or becomes unreachable, we follow our reallocation policy and direct unused gifts to another verified student or the general scholarship fund.

Can I get a refund?

You can request a full refund of your gift and admin fee within 24 hours of payment from your donor dashboard. The payment processor’s fee is not refundable to us, so it is not returned. After 24 hours, gifts are final and non-refundable. If a payment was clearly duplicated, unauthorized, or made in error, email hello@hariomhelps.com and we will review it.

How are refunds processed?

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Card refunds usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. ACH bank transfers can take longer. When a donation is refunded, the associated tax receipt is voided.

When are funds disbursed to the school?

Accepted Answer

Funds are disbursed after a student is fully verified, their funding goal is met, and the school has provided correct fee-account details. We batch disbursements to reduce transfer costs, so the exact timing depends on banking schedules and school confirmations. You will see the status of every gift in your donor dashboard.

What proof do I receive that my money reached the school?

Accepted Answer

Your donor dashboard shows the status of each gift: pending, disbursed, or refunded. For disbursed gifts, we upload proof of payment such as a remittance copy or school confirmation. You can view this without needing to contact support.

Can I donate anonymously?

Accepted Answer

Yes. At checkout you can choose to hide your name from the student’s public funder list. Your name will still appear on your tax receipt and in our internal records for audit purposes.

Does my employer match gifts?

Accepted Answer

Many employers match charitable donations through platforms like Benevity, YourCause, Bright Funds, Millie, or Deed. Search for “Hariom Helps Foundation” in your company’s giving portal, or donate here first and submit your receipt for a match. Email hello@hariomhelps.com if your employer needs a verification letter.

Can I set up a monthly donation?

Yes. Choose monthly giving on the Donate page at $25, $50, or $100 per month. Your card or bank account is charged automatically on the same day each month, and each payment generates its own tax receipt. Active monthly donors are automatically verified for full student profile access. You can change, pause, or cancel anytime from your dashboard.
