He rang the bell and saved 1,643 children. Now they need school.

On 31 August 2026, Rajendra Dawadi, principal of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nuwakot, Nepal, made a decision in minutes that saved 1,643 lives. He rang the school bell, ordered an immediate evacuation, and got every child uphill before the Trishuli River took the building. Then he watched his school wash away.
The hero we saw — and the children we almost missed
The headlines rightfully celebrate Principal Dawadi. But behind the rescue is a quieter crisis. In the chaos of displacement, many of those 1,643 children have lost parents they have not yet been able to find. Some do not yet know it. A saved life is not the same as a saved future if that child cannot return to a classroom, a bed, or a meal.
Where Hariom Helps comes in
Hariom Helps Foundation is tying up with an orphanage and school programme in Nepal to make sure these children do not become invisible after the cameras leave. 100% of what you give to the Kids in Nepal Education Fund goes to that partner programme. There is no admin fee on Nepal gifts — you only cover the card processing fee on top, so nothing comes out of your gift.
What the money does
Your donation pays for school fees, uniforms, books, daily meals, and safe housing for children who have lost everything except the chance to learn. We are not a disaster-relief logistics team — we are a small education fund — so we are partnering with people on the ground who already know these children.
